First Serve Miami is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing underserved youth in Miami with access to tennis, education, and life skills development. Our programs are designed to inspire young people to reach their full potential, both on and off the court.
Empowering youth one serve at a time through tennis, education, and enrichment programs.
To support the growth and development of youth in underserved communities through tennis, education, and enrichment programs. We work to ensure that youth, especially in underserved communities, have the tools they need to be successful in life on and off the court.
We support young people at critical times in their lives through:
First Serve Miami, established in the 1970s, is the heart of its community, offering a safe space for children and families to learn and grow. The program provides USTA’s Net Generation tennis lessons by certified professionals, along with homework help, yoga, outdoor activities, child safety, self-defense, STEM programs and more. It runs weekdays during the school year.
FSM offers an incredible opportunity for children to learn, play, and fall in love with tennis-all at a low to no cost! This program is specially designed to support underserved families and provide young kids with a fun and inclusive environment where they can thrive. This summer camp does more than teach tennis- it helps build as strong sense of community, promotes health and fitness, and encourages kids to lead active, balanced lifestyles.
Since 2008, First Serve Miami’s Adopt-A-Player program has supported socially and economically challenged student-athletes, giving them opportunities to compete in local and national tennis tournaments and pursue their college dreams. To date, 58 graduating seniors have earned college scholarships to prestigious schools like St. Thomas University, Wingate University, Texas University, Princeton, Boston College, and more. Through partnerships with The City of Miami, the program boasts a 98% success rate, helping students growth both on and off the court.
Launched in 2021, First Miami (FSM) and the USTA Foundation introduced free after-school tennis, starting with five community parks in Miami-Dade County. Now serving over 20 parks across South Florida, the program aims to expand recreational youth tennis in underserved communities. Through partnerships with local municipalities, parks receive tennis instructions and STEM activities during seasonal sessions in the Fall, Spring, and Summer, offered in 6 or 10-weeks formats.
Launched in 2015, FSM aims to expand youth tennis opportunities in underserved Miami-Dade County schools. As a chapter of the USTA, FSM supports schools by offering free tennis equipment, a ready-to-use curriculum, training, and optional tennis instruction from FSM volunteers or coaches. Schools can join the "Champion's League," a culminating event in collaboration with the USTA. The program runs during the fall and spring in 4 or 8-week sessions, providing a platform to promote recreational tennis among students.
